Chocolate Cake

When I started my bourbon cupcake business back in 2012, I started with this recipe to make my chocolate cake (and toyed around with how much bourbon to add to the cake).

This is hands-down the best chocolate cake recipe I’ve made. It’s moist and absolutely delicious.

Chocolate Cake

  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar

  • 1 3/4 cups All Purpose Flour

  • 3/4 cup Cocoa

  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder

  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 2 Eggs

  • 1 cup Milk

  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil

  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 1 cup Boiling Water


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Add ingredients one by one into a mixing bowl in the order above. Set the mixer on the lowest speed and allow it to mix continuously while adding ingredients.
  • Once all ingredients have been added, continue to mix for 2 minutes.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
